On June 18th, 2012, we planted this Sweet Bay Magnolia, and named it The Nanny Tree. My daughter named my mother Nanny when she was little. The plan was to call her Granny, but Christi was having none of that, and she became known as Nanny to the rest of the grandkids as well. We buried one of her favorite shirts around the roots of it, the denim shirt she's seen wearing in pictures throughout the last years of her life. And Christi and I talked about her and some of the good times. Kind of like a wake, I guess. Tomorrow night, we're going to read some words and take some more pictures. You can't really see the tree up close in this pic, but it has a lot of buds that are just ready to bloom. ♥ Mama.
